Mission

What, practically speaking, has God called Gospel Pathways to do?  The answer to this question is our mission

We are called to get the gospel out in an explicit way thus making disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15).

The apostle Paul reminded us that communicating the gospel was "of first importance" to him and his ministry (1 Corinthians 15:1-3).  When Jesus came, he came preaching and teaching about the gospel of the kingdom (Matthew 24:14).  These should be our priorities as well because it is through the gospel message that we can begin a relationship with God. Therefore, the ministries of Gospel Pathways, whether it be evangelism, church planting, education, social outreach, etc, will always set as a priority its contribution to helping get the gospel out.

Once a person decides to become a Christian and follow Jesus that is just the beginning of the gospel working in their life.  The rest of life is a working out of the implications of the gospel.  So, what we normally would call discipleship is also a part of the gospel's work in the life of a believer. (Philippians 2:12 )

And so as a mission agency we think carefully about how to communicate the gospel in in our culture in everyday life like when we are sitting at a cafe talking with a friend.  For example, it is important  to use words that are understood by the people of the culture that we are in instead of just parroting back words which have little meaning for them in their culture.  This, contextualization, is the job of the missionary and thus the thrust of the mission of any mission agency.
